   Other Manufacturers

Since Gradient is not the only paraglider manufacturer in the world, here are links to a few other
companies whose products I really like too. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to test fly
many wings, so the list is rather limited. Gliders from UP, Advance and Gin all finish high up on the
international competition score boards and so my opinion is shared by many of the top pilots too.
Woody Valley is an Italian company who are also renown for making good quality harnesses.

Paragliding Associations

All local pilots need to be a member of SAHPA, the governing body for paragliding and hanggliding in
SA. Information regarding licence regulations, the SA competition calendar, etc. can be found from the
link below. Similarly, the German DHV body also exists, to administer paragliding in Germany and
Austria. Part of their stringent requirements are the certification of all paragliders sold in their country.
Today, the DHV certifications have become a bench mark for classifying all paragliders produced. One
can find all the respective DHV reports via the link below.

Flying Schools and Sites in SA

The links below are to the webpages of some of the schools and sites around the country. Generally,
each site has a resident paragliding school who train from there. De Aar is renown for its excellent
cross country potential. Bulwer and Bambi are good training sites with spectacular scenary. Porterville
is probably SA's most reliable competition venue.

Paragliding Clubs in SA

Below, are links to the two main clubs in Johannesburg that fly from Hartebesspoort Dam. Unfortunately
I don't know the links to the other clubs around the country just yet.
